Banned driver tagged after collision with child

A BANNED driver who was involved in a collision with a child has been electronically tagged and given a curfew.

Manchester magistrates heard how Mohamed Ahmed, aged 33, of Brentwood Road, Bolton, was already banned from holding a licence when the collision occurred on Broadfield Road, Manchester, on September 24.

Ahmed pleaded guilty to driving whilst banned and having no licence as well as not having insurance for the Vauxhall Astra he was driving.

He was sentenced to eight weeks in prison, suspended for 12 months and placed under a 7pm to 7am curfew for eight weeks.

He was also banned from applying for another licence for 12 months and must pay a total of £213 in costs and charges.
