Man ordered to do 80 hours of unpaid work after attack on woman

MAGISTRATES have ordered a man to carry out 80 hours of unpaid work after he attacked a woman and damaged her property.

At Manchester Magistrates̢۪ Court Nial Callaghan, aged 32, of Trentham Avenue, Farnworth, admitted committing the offences on August 14.

The court heard how, in addition to assaulting the woman, he damaged a pool table, garden wall, bathroom sink, bedroom door and mirror.

Callaghan was sentenced to 20 weeks in prison, suspended for 18 months, during which he must complete the unpaid work plus a relationships programme and 10 days or rehabilitation activities. He must also pay £213 in costs.
