LETTERS TO THE EDITOR Resignation insufficient for Cuomo others

ANALYSIS/OPINION:

New York Attorney Gen. Letitia James and U.S. Attorney Gen. Merrick Garland should be ashamed to have declined to indict New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo for committing acts of sexual battery (“Cuomo urged to resign after sex harassment report,” Page 1, Aug. 4).

Reaching into a woman’s blouse to touch her breast is sexual battery. Grabbing a woman’s buttocks is sexual battery. The refusal of the New York and federal attorneys general to take steps to charge Cuomo with all relevant criminal charges disclosed in their investigations is nothing less than an unequivocal declaration that two different kinds of criminal justice exist in their respective criminal justice systems. One is for the rich and politically connected or powerful, and there people are rarely prosecuted this behavior. The other is for you and me, working Americans who will feel the full weight of the criminal justice systems brought to bear on us.

We’ve seen this sad sort of dichotomy before, in former FBI Director Comey’s mishandling of Hillary Clinton’s use of her private email and server to receive emails that contained sensitive national defense and security information. Is it any wonder that the incidence of violent crimes is skyrocketing when politicians, particularly Democrats and their rioting storm in our cities, get a pass? Mere resignation is not enough. Lengthy incarceration is absolutely necessary to send the message the United States has but one criminal justice for everyone.

Joe Biden played a key role in the enactment of the Violence Against Women Act of 1994. Where is that Joe Biden?
